The 2016 Winning Golf Championship

             Well, The Winning Golf Championship has a history of thrilling finishes and certainly 2016 was no exception. This year 12 “weekly champions” displayed their short game skills on the challenging 9th green at the beautiful Applecross C.C. The pressure was intense with an amazing “grand prize” on the line which included a beautiful “championship trophy”, a full golf membership at Applecross C.C. and a 6 day/5 night trip for two to the beautiful Pinehurst region in N.C. courtesy of “Brown Golf”. Our 2016 Champions faced 6 rounds of competition and were challenged with a variety of shots including chips, pitches, putts as well as lob and bunker shots. Each round the players with the 5 best shots received points. The goal was to accumulate as many points as possible and finish in the top 6 after our 5 round cut. The top 6 players (pictured below) would then compete in the Survivor Round for the final 2 slots and a chance to win the unbelievable “grand prize”. With our 6 finalists facing a difficult 95 ft. downhill chip shot from the rough, Jeff Neil and Patti Angelos hit the big shots and moved on to the SAP Up & In Playoff. In a thrilling playoff, Patti rolled in a pressure- packed 4 foot putt to become the 2016 Winning Golf “Grand Champion”!
